倩女幽魂

This movie is my all-time favourite, classic romantic ghost story. I love the show so much that Mummy said I can watch the show over and over again every other day. It’s a 1987 Hong Kong movie, I was only 1 year old! I remember watching it in my kindergarden/primary school days.. I caught myself watching it even when Channel U repeats in the wee hours a few years back. Even till now, I still have vivid memories of the movie, knowing what’s coming up in the next scene or even their next line.

(Lady Gaga’s bow hair isn’t that original afterall.)

Argh. Googling these images make me wanna watch the movie all over again! I never like the Part 2 & 3 that much, the original is still the best. I didn’t even watch the Daniel Chan and Da S version as well, because I know it can never beat this.

I’m humming to the movie OST in my mind as I type.. See! I can even remember the tune!

Anyway, you know where this is leading to..

There’s a NEW 倩女幽魂 coming up! I was disappointed to hear that because I know it will definitely be a total letdown.. till I saw the cast. TSK. Louis Koo! My favourite Hong Kong actor! Nope, he’s not acting as 宁采臣, but 燕赤霞! 燕赤霞 is the ghost hunter, not the lead, but Louis Koo is the lead in this movie.. I got confused and went to google more.

Ahh, yahoo movies say this:
Following the 1987 horror rom-com classic starring Leslie Cheung and another two movies after that, Wilson Yip directs a new version with Louis Koo and Liu Yi Fei. Yip says he aims to put his own spin on the familiar story and it isn’t a sequel, but rather a brand-new story, employing new elements such as CGI effects. Yin Chek Ha (Louis Koo) was determined to become a good Demon Hunter but one day, he made a big mistake when he broke the rules of his Demon Hunter brotherhood. After that, he hides himself in the Black Mountain village. He knows his heart is still with Black Mountain and he tries hard to kill all the demons he encounters to numb himself and forget a woman (Liu Yi Fei). After many years, history repeats itself and he realises he has left his heart with her.

[Please don’t go on yahoo movies to read more, because a reviewer revealed the ending… yah, pretty sianz. I don’t like to know the ending/twists in shows before watching, unless I have zero intention in watching that show.]

I hope the director’s new spin on the classic is good. I wouldn’t expect to be as good as the original.. well.. but at least worth your movie ticket.
