San Antonio getaway (continued)

After Sea World, we drove to downtown San Antonio, checked in at Staybridge and headed for dinner at the Liberty Bar.

We walked to a nearby church-turned-cafe place for live music performance. Read some live music scenes and reviews online and decided to try out this place since it’s of walking distance from Liberty Bar.

The inside looks good, but seriously the band which played that evening sux to the max. I’ve never been to such a cui performance.

We ended the night earlier because we were super tired from a day at Sea World. Returned to hotel early and ended up watching TV in room.

Well.. we tried to begin the next day earlier. Started the day with the Mission Trail.

What exactly is a Mission?

The legacy and history of San Antonio and this region began with a simple ceremony when…

in 1718 Franciscans and Spanish representatives established the first mission. Within 13 years, five were located along the San Antonio River. The missions’ purpose? To acculturate and Christianize the native population and make them Spanish citizens. Today, visitors can retrace the footsteps of the mission Indians and friars. And, possibly, meet descendants of those first inhabitants.

San Jose is probably the biggest mission left in North America.

Along the trail, we passed by another Mission – Mission Concepcion

Ended the trail at The Alamo – last Mission which is located in downtown. There were few parking spaces near there, so we drove further up to check out the El Mercado Market.

It’s time for lunch! We stopped by this happening-looking cafe+bakery by the market. It was crowded! We waited a good 20 mins or so for seats! (: While waiting, we checked out the stores/market.

All these pantries look Asian to me.

Decided to sit al fresco to absorb all the bustling bits of the lively town.

I got a little tippy after a glass of margarita! That’s fast! Since we did not have much planned for the day, we went back to hotel to nap! It’s the first time that I actually go back hotel in the afternoon on a holiday!! Wanted to just do a short nap… er I slept a good 3 hours straight to 6pm! Just in time for dinner!
